Distinguished Conduct Medal Citation

In front of Amiens and Arras, August and September 1918, for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Throughout the operations mentioned he set a fine example of coolness and initiative while under fire. On one occasion, when heavy shell fire held up the distribution of rations, he reorganized the different parties and personally conducted them to their respective front-line locations. His energy at all time was untiring.
