His son, George William Butler reg. no. 880829, served with the 186th Battalion but was found to be under age. He had recorded his birth as in 2 January 1899 but it was 1900. He was posted to the 1st Battalion on 12 April 1918 and was discovered under age 17 July 1918 and sent back to England.
