Shetler, George Edward: Service No. 406167

Need to review war diary and research source of name.

Review online indicates that George Edward Shelter was involved in a court martial while serving in the 4th Battalion. The 18th Battalion Nominal Roll (1915) does not make reference to this soldier. A test search of the 4th C.I.B. yielded no answer. The remarks indicate he was subject to charges under:

  • Section 15(1a) – absent without leave section;
  • Section 40 – acting to the prejudice of good order and military discipline;
  • Section 12 – deserting or encouraging others to desert.

Does this mean he served with the 4th CIB and was removed from the document as a result of his court martial due to a conviction?

Yet he is listed as a casualty that that died of wounds per the card below. Same name, same religion, and same regimental number.
