Elmore enlisted as a private with The Canadian Mounted Rifles, was sent to England, where he transferred to the Imperial Cavalry as a Corporal. He was recommended for a commmision [sic] while in France, was commissioned Lieutenant in England, and was transferred to the Fighting 18th Battalion of the Royal Canadian Infantry in France. He was wounded in the head and right thigh, November 12, 1917at Passchendale and was hospitalized in Letremont. Upon recovery, he rejoined his outfit and was killed in action October 6, 1918. Also saw battles at Ypres, the Somme and Canal Nord.
