PTE. CARL AUGUSTUS BYRNES Pte. Carl Augustus Byrnes, enlisted May, 1916, with the 142nd Batt’n. Transferred to 18th Batt’n. Killed at Lens, Aug. 15, 1917. Age 20 years. From his bereaved Mother, Brothers and Sisters.
“Killed in Action” He was killed by shell fire during an attack on the many enemy trenches at Lens.
