Joined the 18th Battalion May 1916. Killed in action September 15, 1916 during the attack on Courcelette during the Somme Battles.

Lieut. Barnes, whose picture appears in today’s issues of The Herald, worked in the Canadian Bank of Commerce here for several years and was also actively engaged in business in this city for some considerable time before his enlistment. His parents are living in MacLeod, and he has another brother serving in the Canadian forces in Flanders.
